IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THESE TERMS:
When you complete your Booking, you accept these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) and any other terms and conditions that you are provided during the booking process.
These Terms include an agreement to mandatory binding individual arbitration, which means that you agree to proceed in court. These Terms also include your waiver of any right to bring, or participate in, a class action and a jury trial waiver. If anything in these Terms is (or becomes) invalid or unenforceable, it will still be enforced to the fullest extent permitted by law, and you will still be bound by everything else in these Terms.
The term “Dawn Expeditions” herein refers to this Tour Operator. Our Company address is Nairobi, Kenya.
Postal address: 11178-00100, Nairobi GPO.
“Booking” means the traveler has willingly entered into an agreement with Dawn Expeditions and entrusts Dawn Expeditions as the Tour planner of their choice henceforth.
“Booking Terms and Conditions” or “Terms” means these terms and conditions.
The same is also translated as the information supplied directly by Dawn Expeditions in our available platforms.
“Contract” means the legal contract between Dawn Expeditions and the guest.
“Advisors Tour” means a Safari that is organized entirely by Dawn Expeditions and invites travel advisors to enjoy the destinations in our area of travel (East Africa). The advisors are chosen at the discretion of Dawn Expeditions.
A scheduled itinerary would be offered, and advisors expected to fully adhere with the same.
“Refund” means a return of all, or part of the travel fee paid and is applicable only on the conditions described herein.
“Dawn Premium Safaris” means all our travel packages in East Africa.
Peruse our website to see all the updated travel packages. Any updates shall be done directly on the website.
“Destinations” means our geographical areas of operations. Here are our areas: Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zanzibar Island.
“Travel Advisor” means any travel agent, or any website not owned or operated by Dawn Expeditions and used by the Guest to book their Tour Package.
“Tour Package” means the Journey whether in combination with any flights or not.
“Flying package” means travelling by means of air transport as much as practically and logistically possible.
“Road Travel” means travelling by means of road. This is likely to involve motor vehicles of various capacities depending on other factors like number of travelers and state of infrastructure.
“Website” means the set of related web pages, documents and hypertext links served from the web domain: www.dawnexpeditions.com.
2. DEPOSIT & PAYMENT INFORMATION
A specified deposit will be made once the booking is made to secure the space.
All payments shall be made in the U.S Dollars in a specified account that shall be provided. Failure to comply with the same within the specified period shall be deemed unresponsive.

An additional non-refundable permit fee is required at time of booking for journeys including Uganda and Rwanda.
- All our departures are guaranteed with a minimum number of two (2) for the Dawn Signatures and Private Dawn signatures.
- A minimum number of one (1) is applicable for the custom Dawn Signatures.
- Cancellations will be effective on the date of receipt by Dawn Expeditions only by email or hardcopy mail.
- Cancellations received by Dawn Expeditions are subject to the following cancellation fees:

We however advise that guests through our guest’s information form share with us as much details as possible.
This will include personal medical information like allergies and medications, physical challenges (and level), minors, preferences in accommodations and meals and any other information that would be deemed necessary.
All this data is protected under our privacy policy.
- Accommodation from the arrival day at the point of entry in East Africa.
- All meals during the entire trip.
- Snacks and soft drinks in the safari vehicles.
- Literature in the safari vehicles.
- Guaranteed window seats in the safari vehicles.
- Local and regional flights within East Africa.
- Professional Tour leader to escort you throughout the Itinerary.
- Dawn Expeditions concierge services.
- Meet and assist at the point of entry and departure.
- Complimentary internet access on safari.
- Thirty-three (33) pounds weight limit per person on bush flights.
- Travel Insurance within East Africa.
- Laundry services.
- Local gratuities for porters and waiters.
- Local beers and house wines by the glass during designated meals times throughout.
- Cocktails on the trip. (Tour leaders to advice while on the trip)
- Entry fees in all parks/ reserves / marines in the Itinerary.
- Bottled water in our safari vehicles.
- International airfares.
- International Insurance.
- Personal Medical amenities.
- Some assorted high premium liquors and wines. (Tour leaders to advise on the same whilst on the trip).
- Visas fees
- International flight excess baggage fees and taxes.
- Hospitalization costs.
- Airport departure taxes.
The quoted safari prices are per person, double occupancy except where indicated.
However, the child policy below applies in the quotation.
Please note:
- Dawn Expeditions will quote the whole Safari program as a “Package” and will at no given time be under any obligations to give the entire breakdown of the Safari.
- Any early arrivals or post departure costs will be shared individually to the guests. This shall be communicated in advance and options offered.
- Our Custom safaris are entirely flexible, and we shall avail the total cost after completion of the logistical planning with the respective guests.
All the Safari programs shall be quoted in the U.S Dollars and hence shall only be paid in the U.S Currency or its equivalent.
Most hotels and lodges will commence their check-in process around midday. However, should one need an ERG (Early room guarantee), we would engage the establishment in advance. Kindly share the arrival details in good time with Dawn Expeditions to be able to expedite on the same.
Our guests are entitled to express check in in hotels and lodges to the extent of the local airlines.
This is also made possible by data sharing which allows us to pre-check you in all these facilities. It eventually saves time as our guests will literary walk straight to their rooms.
12. ROOM UPGRADES/SPECIAL REQUESTS
Rooms upgrades are ideally possible at the check-in point of the majority of the establishments. However, to avoid any disappointments on arrival, we would appreciate this information at hand during the booking state to accommodate as many requests as possible.
At Dawn Expeditions, we reserve the right to design, amend and or modify the safari itinerary in the best interest of all our guests.
We design our programs very carefully and leave very minimal grey areas as possible. However, we remain flexible and innovative enough to offer alternatives and suggestions should we by some unforeseen circumstances have to modify the program.
These changes can be effective prior to departure or mid trip.
It is our responsibility to offer the best practical alternatives as possible with very minimal negative impact to the general program as possible. These foreseen circumstances could be weather or social and political affiliated. WE remain committed to keeping our guests safe in situations where we navigate through political turmoil and might change the routing from that reference.
14. INTERNATIONAL AIR TRANSPORTATION:
Dawn Expeditions does not quote for International Air travel unless called upon by individual guests or our travel partners.
While called upon so, we will assist in getting the best options available from our air partners.
15. REGIONAL AND LOCAL AIR TRANSPORT
At this point, we have included the above in our trip costs where applicable and they are part of our plannings.
We have included both commercial scheduled departures and charters where applicable. In our local flights, no designated class seats are available and also limited in the regional flights. We have flexibility when the charters are involved in terms of the space and weight.
However, during the very initial stages of bookings, we shall be able to advice.
Its worth noting that Dawn Expeditions DO NOT own or operate any aircrafts both regionally or locally and only rely of our business partners in the business. Dawn Expeditions shall not be liable and does not assume responsibility for, or accept claims regarding, seat assignments, name changes, schedule changes, insufficient travel documentation, flight changes and/or cancellations. Should you change or cancel your international air transportation arrangements before or after your travel begins, all airline change and cancellation fees will apply.
16. LOCAL AND REGIONAL AIRLINES LUGGAGE POLICY
The general luggage policy for the local and regional airlines in East Africa is the 33 pounds (15 kilos) for the total passage weight including the hand luggage.
We recommend that our guests share with us indications that they believe may make them exceed the indicated weight in advance for our intervention and where possible protection.
All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Unless otherwise
indicated herein the minimum age to participate in a safari is ten (10) years old for all our classic safaris and Five (5) for custom safaris.
The parent or guardian travelling alone with a child is recommended to carry documentation that proves their relationship to the child (e.g., birth certificate) and evidence that they have permission to travel with the child (e.g., consent letter). Guests travelling with children who are not related are recommended to carry documentation which provides evidence they have permission to travel with the child. Guests are advised to check with the appropriate government authority to determine the necessary documents required for travel with children.
Dawn Expeditions cannot be held responsible should the guest, child or any member of the travelling party be denied entry to a country due to noncompliance with a country’s requirements.
It is the responsibility of the individual guests to apply, obtain and make available all their necessary travel documents including but not limited to:
- Passports
- Yellow fever certificate or a medical letter advising against the same.
- Covid Vaccinations.
- Visas
- Minors consent letters.

With our guests’ consent, we might take our guests photographs and use them in our official publications for example, website and social media platforms.
Our guests are as well free to take pictures during the trip guided by the policy and can share their pictures with us on a platform provided by Dawn Expeditions.
Any publications made with the guests’ photographs shall be accredited to the guest. A guest’s photo is available, and the guests are free to participate in the same. A photo contest guideline is available separately.

We always do our due diligence to ensure that our partners adhere to the Dawn Expeditions guidelines to give our guests the best experience ever in the safest environment. All these entities are independent contractors.
As a result, the Parties are not liable for any injury to Guest, including any negligent or willful acts of any such person or entity or of any third person providing such goods and services. In addition and without limitation, the Dawn Expeditions Parties are not responsible for any injury, financial or physical loss, death, inconvenience, delay or damage to personal property in connection with the provision of any goods or services whether resulting from but not limited to acts of God or force majeure, illness, disease, acts of war, civil unrest, insurrection or revolt, animals, strikes or other labor activities, criminal or terrorist activities of any kind, overbooking or downgrading of services, food poisoning, mechanical or other failure of aircraft or other means of transportation or for failure of any transportation mechanism to arrive or depart on time.
There are many inherent risks in adventure travel of the type involved here, which can lead to illness, injury, or even death. These risks are increased by the fact that these trips take place in remote locations, far from medical facilities. Guest assumes all such risks associated with participating in the Journeys.
If you decide to participate in any activities including, but not limited to, any excursions involving animals, riding on animals, scuba diving, snorkeling, boating, hot air ballooning, helicopter flights, ziplining, high altitude treks, climbing, quad biking, parasailing, parachuting, kayaking, whitewater rafting, jet boat rides, polar plunge, snowmobiling, primate tracking and any other activity which Dawn Expeditions considers to carry inherent risk of serious illness, injury or death (“Activities”), then you fully understand and acknowledge that Activities carry with them various inherent risks, including serious illness, injury or death, and you take complete responsibility for your own health and safety and agree to assume all risks of injury, illness or death, whether foreseen or unforeseen, that may befall you as a result of participating in any Activities and agree to release the Dawn Expeditions Parties from any liability whatsoever related thereto.
Further, as consideration for being permitted to participate in the Activities; you release the Dawn Expeditions Parties, whether known or unknown, from, and agree not to sue or make claim against the Dawn Expeditions Parties for, property damage, cancellation of any Activities for any reason, illness, negligent rescue operations or procedures, personal injury, or death arising out of your participation in the Activities, and any activity related thereto, including transportation to and from the site of the Activities, regardless of whether such property damage, illness, personal injury, or death results from the negligence of the Dawn Expeditions Parties and/or from any defect in equipment.
You further agree to indemnify and hold the Dawn Expeditions Parties harmless with respect to any claim made against the Dawn Expeditions Parties by anyone else (a) related to your participation in any trip or any Activities, or (b) which would be subject to the above release and covenant not to sue if you had made the claim directly yourself. Upon receipt of notice of the assertion of a claim, Dawn Expeditions Parties reserve the right to approve, or withdraw approval of, counsel, in its sole discretion.

Dawn Expeditions reserves the right to made amendments of this this document in the best interest of the guests upon reviewing any prevailing conditions in our geographical areas of operations.
Therefore, we shall not be expected to give reasons on the decisions made.
Dawn Expeditions shall not be liable for any claims whatsoever unless full particulars in writing are given to Dawn Expeditions within thirty (30) days after the completion of the trip.
Legal proceedings to recover on any claim whatsoever other than for personal injury, illness or death shall not be maintainable unless commenced within six (6) months after the date the guests completes the Journey, and unless served upon Dawn Expeditions within 120 days after commencement.
Guest expressly waives all other potentially applicable state or federal limitation periods for claims which include, but are not limited to, allegations concerning all civil rights.
Dawn Expeditions bookings and agreements are made under the laws of the Republic of Kenya.
